Apply for a Marriage Licence
The Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc issues licences for marriage ceremonies taking place anywhere in the Province of Ontario. Licences are issued no earlier than 90 days prior to the date of the ceremony.
The current marriage licence fee is $120.00.
Appointments are required to finalize your marriage licence. Please contact the Municipal Office at 519-245-1105 ext. 237 for more information.
Please note that the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc does not conduct civil marriage ceremonies. For an up-to-date listing of registered officials who may conduct marriage ceremonies, please refer to the provincial registry.
To get a marriage licence you will need to:
- Complete and save the province of Ontario's marriage licence application PDF form available via this link. Digital signatures will be accepted (i.e. names may be typed into the signature fields). A date and location for the ceremony is required;
- Upload the completed province of Ontario's marriage licence application form (from Step 1) along with 2 pieces of original identification for each applicant. A birth certificate is required, as well as one piece of government-issued photo identification, such as a passport, driver's licence, or health card;
- Upload final proof of divorce, if applicable (please note that a Certificate of Divorce is required; divorce orders are not accepted under the Vital Statistics Act);
- Once the application has been submitted and approved, you will receive a notification email of the approval and will be prompted to make payment online and book an appointment to finalize the licence at the municipal office.
*Please note: When picking up the licence at the municipal office, we will require original identification for each applicant as submitted in the online application.
